June is Bowel Cancer Awareness Month

We're counting down the days until Bowel Cancer Australia's signature awareness and fundraising campaign begins.

Bowel cancer is one of the most preventable cancers, yet it is Australia's second deadliest cancer.

101 people die every week of bowel cancer and over 40 Australians are diagnosed with the disease every day.

Bowel Cancer Australia is committed to championing what matters most to people affected by bowel cancer and determined to have an everlasting impact where no Australian dies from bowel cancer and all those diagnosed receive the support they need.

Learn more about how, with your support, we're making an impact.

The voice of an award-winning actress features in our latest awareness campaign which uses computer-generated imagery in a high-impact commercial complete with a talking bowel!

The campaign builds on the success of our highly acclaimed, Home of Australia's second deadliest cancer campaign, which was voiced by UK comedian Bill Bailey.

Watch out for it in June.

A simple way to help show your support this June is to wear a Bowel Cancer Awareness Ribbon or even better, grab yourself a display box of 30 to sell to friends and colleagues.

Alternatively, send, dedicate, or buy a virtual ribbon which will be displayed in our virtual apple tree.

Add a virtual bowel cancer awareness ribbon using our dedicated Facebook frame and encourage your family and friends to do the same.

It's important to recognise possible bowel cancer symptoms and have them investigated if they persist.

This June download our social tiles, be the messenger, and help us to raise awareness of bowel cancer symptoms and risk factors.

Almost 99% of bowel cancer cases can be successfully treated when detected in the earliest stage.

Commit to making your health a priority. Purchase a screening test and check your poo on June 2.

If you're aged 50-74 you are eligible to participate in the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program.

If you've ever thought about raising awareness and funds for bowel cancer, then Bowel Cancer Awareness Month is the perfect time to do it.

Host a Red Apple Day (15 June) fundraiser or awareness activity.

Check out our a-peel-ing recipes for your themed fundraiser - get creative - organise an apple pie bake off, apple bobbing challenge or simply make a gold coin donation for wearing something red. Ideas are only limited by your imagination!

All donations DOUBLED. All donations MATCHED.*
*Up to the value of $100,000

Around 10% of all new bowel cancer cases occur in people under the age of 50, and young-onset patients are more likely to be diagnosed at a later stage when the disease is more difficult to treat.

We need your help this Red Apple Day, Bowel Cancer Australia’s Annual Giving Day, to raise much-needed funds to support the best and brightest scientists dedicated to researching young-onset bowel cancer.

Together, with your help, we can build a path toward a cure.

Donate by June 15 and have your gift MATCHED, so your donation will have DOUBLE the impact.

If you've been diagnosed with bowel cancer, we're here for you. Bowel Cancer Australia provides essential support services for patients and loved ones.

You can email, call (1800 555 494) or video chat with one of our friendly Bowel Care Nurses and/or Nutritionists during business hours. If you choose, we can buddy you with another patient in a similar situation.

Next month we're launching The Movement, a moderated, supportive online community created by patients for patients to help improve wellness beyond diagnosis. You're invited to join the Movement!

We’ve got you covered with new merch in storefree awareness resources as well as The Bottom Line Podcast.

If you want to create even more noise, gather a crowd, either in-person or via Zoom, and arrange a Rear in Gear workplace or community presentation.

And be sure to connect with us on our social channels and share, regram and tweet our posts to help challenge perceptions and motivate action.

Join the bowel movement

and let's see what we can accomplish together.
