Need to increase your CPD hours for 2024?

Five accredited Never2Young CPD series activities total 19 CPD hours.

Limited clinical awareness of early-onset bowel cancer presents a challenge for young people seeking diagnosis, that can have life-changing consequences.

Early-onset bowel cancer patients differ from late-onset bowel cancer patients in their diagnostic trajectories; time to diagnosis can be 60% longer with a greater number of missed diagnostic opportunities, and younger people are more likely to be diagnosed in later stages of the disease.

Late-stage diagnosis increases the likelihood of aggressive treatment with physical, psychosocial, and quality of life outcomes that are uniquely challenging for this under-50 patient population, especially with regards to fertility and ostomy management.

Christmas time offers a gift of hope for the future – one where more families can stay together for longer celebrating special occasions together.

But the festive season can also be a challenging time.

You or a loved one may have received a recent diagnosis or are living with bowel cancer. Christmas can also be a time of memories of someone you care about who has sadly passed away.

For any number of reasons, it is ok if Christmas isn’t the merriest time of year, and the Bowel Cancer Australia team is here for you.

Including Bowel Care Nurses, Bowel Care Nutritionists, Bowel Care Psychosocial Support Workers and our many essential support services uniquely designed for bowel cancer patients and their families.

SUPPORT FOR YOU THIS HOLIDAY SEASON

Big thanks and congratulations to all our beardtastic Decembeard participants, growing and challenging your beards to help make real change happen this December.

The lifetime risk of a bowel cancer diagnosis for Aussie men is 1 in 16. It is a disease that affects men of all ages - you are never too young to have bowel cancer.

That’s why we’ve dedicated the final month of the year to raising much-needed awareness and sharing the unique perspectives of Aussie men living with or beyond bowel cancer. Helping to break the ice with our beardy message, challenging misconceptions and starting a conversation about a topic that can sometimes be difficult to discuss.

Register now to grow or challenge your beard this Decembeard, or to share your empowering story here.
