Hello, Troubled boxing star Scott Fitzgerald has been fined £150 after pleading guilty to assaulting two pub staff during a night out. The Prestonian, who won gold at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, appeared at Preston Magistrates’ Court today (June 2), where he admitted two counts of assault by beating on Cameron Edwards and Ellie Smith. A third charge of common assault against a female member of staff – Georgia Williams – was dismissed. It is the latest in a series of court appearances for the 31-year-old. Last month Fitzgerald pleaded guilty to a one-punch knockout of a man outside a Preston pub. After being told he must learn coping strategies, Fitzgerald, dressed in a light blue buttoned-up shirt and dark trousers, said: “Yes, definately” and told Lead Magistrate Stephen Fairclough there was “no chance I’ll be back here”. Elsewhere today, Premier League giants Liverpool could be visiting Deepdale, but PNE won’t be around to see it. According to reports from the Daily Mail, Jurgen Klopp’s side have asked the Lilywhites to use their ground to stage a pre-season friendly, meaning PNE have requested that the EFL begin their Championship campaign on the road. The date for the friendly is suggested to be Monday August 7, just two days after the Championship is due to get underway on the Saturday. We’ve also been chatting to the Preston dad who has built the city’s iconic landmarks… out of Lego! Finally, on National Fish and Chip Day we’ve also been celebrating the best chippies Preston has to offer. Thanks for reading, Adam adam.lord@nationalworld.com |
