Parts of southeastern Minnesota are expected see over a foot of snow by late Friday night. And in the Twin Cities metro area, the first major storm of the season is expected to bring 6 to 8 inches of snow Friday.

Brent Hewett, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in St. Paul says snowfall is forecast to begin in southern Minnesota in early morning and spread to the metro around noon. The heaviest snow in the Twin Cities is expected between 3 and 6 p.m.

Hewett advised caution — leaving extra time for commutes, keeping a winter kit in the car and your headlights on, especially with heavier snow that limits visibility.
