Stone Ladybug Garden Ornaments
By attosa
This is a fun craft for the garden, made from the garden! I collected the roundest stones I could find in my backyard, painted them to look like ladybugs, then placed them all around the garden. Such a fun pop of colour! This is a great all-ages craft.

When September starts, we start thinking of decorations for Christmas. We usually decorate every September and sometimes we remove them on February or March. It's our one thrifty way to save time and money during the Christmas season, so today I started making a paper star which I might be able to use as decoration.

I love plastic milk jugs because they are a lot like thick vellum paper, except they are free after you drink all your milk. After cleaning, drying, and cutting, these milk jugs can make beautiful flowers. Placing a candle in the middle and using it as a votive holder is optional.

I made this control panel for my 4 yr old son. He told me that he needed something that would charge his engine and control the mechanical parts of his body. He is amazingly creative and I just had to make that happen. This is what I came up with:

This was a labor of love, but I am happy with how it came out. With some yarn, hot glue, and a faux pumpkin you too can make one like this. I saw these on Pinterest, but I make mine crochet rather than with single strands of yarn.

I have seen other examples of this type of project and wanted to create one of my own. Currently it is decorating my kitchen countertop, but will move outside into the garden when the weather improves.

This lovely little wreath lesson was offered at my local library and used discarded books for the project. Lovely I think and lots of fun to make with a friend/loved one!

Many years ago, I saw a project similar to this, done by Martha Stewart. She used Mary Jane candy wrappers, decoupaged onto a box, I think. For this project, I used Tootsie Roll wrappers.

This is a fun project for children to do on a rainy day as a decoration for their bedroom wall. If you choose child-safe glue, you will need patience and somewhere out of reach for it to dry undisturbed.

These little paper envelopes are a lot easier to make than they look. A lovely idea for giving small gifts, love notes, or gift cards. You don't have to use specialised origami paper, any will do.

Small Cross-body Crochet Purse
By melissa
I was going away for the weekend and wanted a small purse. I wanted it just big enough to hold a small wallet, phone, powder, and lipstick. I also wanted to use thick yarn and a big hook so that I could finish it quickly. This is what I came up with. It is easy and you'll be done in no time.

The kids are always asking us to buy those funky decorative gourds at the grocery store in the fall. I usually say no, but last year I gave in and let them each pick one.

I bought this old frame at a garage sale several years ago for $1 and then I pressed a fern between several pages of newspaper and weighted it with books. When completely dry, I mounted it with sewing thread onto some mat board and inserted in frame.
