There's something wonderful and spectacular about all brass instruments, and the people you meet when you're around them.
So, it's been great to highlight brass this week on Classic Breakfast. I've been lucky enough to welcome to the show some of Australia's greatest brass players.
But the best part has been your contribution. You've sent me your questions every day to pose to my guests, wonderful accounts of how you felt when you listened to the music, and your memories too, of playing in bands, listening to your dad or mum playing the horn or the tuba, or just being enthralled by the sound of the Salvos Band on your local street corner.
Finally, what a moment when a whole brass band came into the studio. Trumpeter Paul Goodchild died earlier this year at 59. And the band that came in was Bondi Brass, Paul's band. It was my privilege to sit in the band, surrounded by Paul's friends and colleagues, and play music he loved.
