Mr. Colin Blackwell – Chairman, HR Committee of Vietnam Business Forum Colin Blackwell is originally from the UK, where he completed his business degree. After starting his career in HR in the UK, he relocated to Russia in 1993 where he was one of the first expatriates to work in the very new HR consulting field there. He was instrumental in setting up the first ever graduate jobsfair in Russia. In 1995 he set up the first and market leading employment agency in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos. Colin is now running a group of companies in Vietnam in aviation ground handling, air cargo, software, tourism and handcrafts export. A large proportion of his staff are disabled and his companies work closely with the UN International Labour Organization as a success story case study to change perceptions about disability in Vietnam. He is the Chairman of the HR Committee of the Vietnam Business Forum, representing the business community to the Ministry of Labour. He on the supervisory board of the Vietnam Employment Agency Federation, and a judge for the Vietnam HR Awards. After several years working in hotels and tourism, Nicola entered into the recruitment industry with the largest privately owned company in SE England. • Whilst travelling to Asia, Nicola settled in Vietnam where she worked for a privately owned HR services company launching one of the first outsourcing division in Vietnam with over 800 employees this role covered both HR services and recruitment • With her expertise as an industry leader, Nicola lobbied with the Vietnamese Government for the first 100% foreign invested company to enter the market into employment placement and signed the first public private Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Labour, invalids and Social Affairs which was to last for seven years. The full launch comprised of all aspects of licence and business operations. • Adecco Group decided to enter into the Vietnam market and Nicola’s expertise resulted within four years of operations employing 1,800 associates and completed over 1,100 placements.
