President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris greeted three U.S. residents freed in a historic prisoner swap with Russia and other countries as they made an emotional return to American soil. A plane carrying journalists Evan Gershkovich and Alsu Kurmasheva and Marine veteran Paul Whelan touched down at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, where they were welcomed by hugs from Biden, Harris and their families to applause.

"There’s nothing beyond our capacity when we act together,” Biden told reporters when asked if he had a message for America.
