Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson ruled himself out of the running for the Tory leadership on Sunday, despite claiming he had the support required to do so. Several lawmakers had called for Johnson's return after his successor Liz Truss resigned Thursday.

"In the course of the last days I have sadly come to the conclusion that this would simply not be the right thing to do," Johnson said Sunday.
