Covid surge in Scot town sparks warning

A surge of Covid-19 cases in one Scottish town has led health chiefs to warn of a “perfect storm” for further spread in infections ahead of the May Day weekend.

More than 100 new cases have been reported in the area since April 10, with around half of those recorded in the last seven days

It has prompted the local NHS to warn of further transmission given the holiday weekend, the easing of lockdown and the expected rise in visitors to the area.
