Scots school holidays will not be extended

The school holidays over the Christmas and New Year period will not be extended in Scotland, it has finally been announced today.

There were discussions about extending the festive break to three weeks to help prevent the spread of Covid, but this has been ruled out by the Education Secretary after weeks of uncertainty.

Deaths in Scotland rise by 51 

There have been 51 further deaths recorded in connection with coronavirus in Scotland in the last 24 hours. 

It's a jump from yesterday's figures, when 38 people were reported to have died.
