A coalition of parents attempting to block a Louisiana law requiring that the Ten Commandments be displayed in public school classrooms by next year has won a legal battle in federal court.

A U.S. district judge granted its request for a preliminary injunction against the legislation, which would have made the state the first in the nation to require all public K-12 schools and colleges to exhibit posters of the Ten Commandments.
