Three hostages in Gaza were holding a stick with a white cloth on it when they were mistakenly killed by Israeli soldiers, a military official said.

A soldier felt threatened and opened fire killing two of the hostages immediately, the official said. They added that the third was wounded and ran into a nearby building where he called for help in Hebrew, but he was killed after another burst of fire.
