I’ve just received word that UNHCR is deploying critical aid to thousands of displaced people in Darfur who’ve been cut off from humanitarian assistance for months.
Four trucks carrying tarpaulins, blankets, mosquito nets and other essential items have crossed from Chad into Sudan following the reopening of the Adre crossing.
However, this is just a fraction of the aid needed. Please donate now to help us send more supplies to vulnerable families fleeing war.
Your gift can help people like Fatima find safety and protection.
When Fatima looks at the faded bloodstain on her torn shawl, she thinks of her teenage son, Mizamir, who was gunned down in front of her.
Armed men from a Sudanese paramilitary group killed Mizamir and then turned on Fatima, beating her badly.
“My kidneys still hurt and I can’t lift heavy things anymore,” she says.
Supporter, the situation in Sudan is extremely grave. The war has forced more than 10 million people like Fatima to flee for their lives. Will you donate now to provide families with emergency aid?
Fatima managed to flee to Chad with her four other sons. Despite her pain and grief, she must focus on finding the next meal.
“I get very sad when I think about what happened, but then my thoughts turn to finding food,” she says.
Famine has been confirmed in Zamzam camp in North Darfur, and at least a dozen other areas are at risk of famine, too. Conflict and flooding are cutting people off from life-saving aid, including food and medicine.
Time is running out to reach families caught between conflict and starvation. Please give urgently – your generous donation can save lives.
Supporter, UNHCR is doing everything it can to reach vulnerable communities. But we can’t do it alone.
Thank you for supporting this life-saving work – it makes a real difference.
Yours sincerely,
Trudi Mitchell CEO
P.S. Without urgent assistance, more people will die. Please donate now to provide shelter, medicine and healthcare for starving families fleeing conflict.
