The New York Mets on Thursday fired manager Carlos Beltran, just days after Major League Baseball connected him to a sign-stealing scandal that’s rocked the sport. Beltran was an outfielder with the Houston Astros in their World Series-winning 2017 season, when they are accused of using an elaborate system to steal opposing pitchers’ signs during home games. He was named Mets manager last year and is now ousted before having managed a single game. |
