Tougher restrictions on takeaways

Some breaking news this afternoon. Six new restrictions have been announced for Scotland, with takeaway and click-and-collect services among those affected.

Nicola Sturgeon made the announcement at her daily coronavirus briefing today.

It means how people order food to take away will have to change, and comes alongside other tightened rules.

Almost 2,000 new cases

This news comes as coronavirus continues to spread through the population, with 1,949 new cases confirmed in Scotland in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, 191,965 people have now been vaccinated against the virus across the country.

Scotland has recorded 79 deaths of Covid-19 patients and 1,949 new cases in the past 24 hours, Nicola Sturgeon has said.

Almost 60% of covid positive Protect Scotland app users do not inform close contacts they have the virus
