They’ve educated the masses, saved lives, raised funds, helped us hunker down, and lifted us up, they are the banging soundtrack of the Internet we love.
This year’s Winners are Bangers Only: Projects like The 1619 Project, NASA Global Climate Change Website, Google Black-Owned Friday and pop culture phenomena including Ted Lasso, Sesame Street and The Dropout Podcast, and some of this year’s most-talked about personalities including Britney Spears, Questlove, Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, Jon Stewart, andPeyton Manning.

Megan Pete, known by her stage name “Megan Thee Stallion,” has been named Webby Artist of the Year for excelling as an artist, notably through her record-breaking singles like “WAP” and “Thot Shit,” to her Snap Original Series “Off Thee Leash,” to “Enter Thee Hottieverse,“ her upcoming virtual reality concert tour. Megan will also receive this honor for using her massive platform to advocate for Black women to be confident, respected and protected.
Digital pioneers Anil Dash and Kevin McCoy will accept the Webby Lifetime Achievement Award for developing a block-chain powered way for artists to own and monetize digital work, which laid the groundwork for what would be known as Non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Since creating their pivot project in 2014, Dash and McCoy have continued to advocate for artists to have agency over their work, and protect it against plagiarism.
Drew Barrymore will receive a 2022 Webby Special Achievement Award for her incredible success entertaining online audiences everywhere through The Drew Barrymore Show and its social media content, and connecting consumers with high-quality products through her Beautiful Kitchenware and Flower Beauty brands.
Critically-acclaimed contemporary artist Takashi Murakami will receive a Webby Special Achievement Award for his lifelong career of creating experimental art, and for bringing his talents to the new frontier of NFt art, notably through his CloneX NFT drop with RTFKT Studios and his upcoming MURAKAMI.FLOWERS.
We are honoring organizers of Florida’s Say Gay Movement for continuing a movement for the protection of transgender youth against discriminatory bills and legislation through #SayGay, and for using the Internet to draw attention to the urgent need to address policies that endanger the lives of young trans and LGBTQ people everywhere.
Adam Scott has been named Webby Best Actor for his incredible work in the AppleTV+ series Severance. In his portrayal of Mark Scout, the Lumon Industries employee who chooses to “sever” his work and personal lives, Adam Scott brings his quiet strength and humor to this dystopian story.
