U.S. equities closed Mondayâs session deep in negative territory, though off the lows of the session as investors continued to digest the implications of the United Kingdomâs decision to end its membership in the European Union. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 260 points, or 1.50% to 17140. The S&P 500 ended down 36 points, or 1.81% to 2000, while the Nasdaq Composite shed 113 points, or 2.41% to 4594. The materials and financial sectors suffered the steepest losses on the session.
