80% of the Scottish population now in Level 3

There are now 21 councils areas in Scotland in level three - covering 4.35 million people or 79.7% of the population.

East Lothian, Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire have been added to 18 council areas already in the second-highest restriction tier.

Keir Starmer joins mounting calls for rethink on Christmas rules

Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer has demanded an urgent review of the relaxation of Covid rules over Christmas.

Sir Keir urged Prime Minister Boris Johnson to call an emergency meeting of the Government’s top-level Cobra committee to review the situation.

The statement follows a joint editorial published in the Health Serice Journal and the British Medical Journal, warning that the four nations approach means the nation is ‘blundering' into a third wave of coronavirus cases.
