BREAKING: Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes gets longest Jan. 6 sentence

Stewart Rhodes, the founder of the far-right Oath Keepers, has been sentenced to 18 years in federal prison in connection with the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol following his conviction on seditious conspiracy.

Rhodes’ sentence is the longest handed down in a Jan. 6 case so far. Prosecutors had sought 25 years for him, arguing at trial that the Oath Keepers were “prepared to fight” on Jan. 6. They cited a recording of Rhodes saying after the attack that his “only regret” was, “We should have brought rifles.”
