Rep. George Santos, R-N.Y., told his Republican colleagues on Tuesday that he plans to temporarily recuse himself from committee assignments amid his ongoing ethics issues, according to two lawmakers in the room.

Santos, who was assigned seats on the Science and Small Business committees, said he wants to wait until “he has been cleared up both campaign and personal financial investigations,” a spokesperson told NBC News.
