Alexander Vinnik, a Russian national who was convicted of money laundering, will be returned to Russia as part of the prisoner exchange that freed American Marc Fogel, a U.S. official tells NBC News.

Vinnik is in U.S. custody awaiting transport to Russia. He will leave behind $100 million worth of digital assets as part of the agreement.
