Schools to remain closed

The big news this afternoon is the Scottish Government's decision on schools reopening.

Nicola Sturgeon has announced a "reluctant judgement" that transmission of coronavirus is too high to allow a safe return to schools on February 1.

Instead, most children won't be expected to go back to schools until at least mid February.

How do you feel about this decision? Read more about this story here.

Hospitals under pressure

In the last 24 hours, Scotland has recorded its highest figure to date of people being treated in hospital for Covid-19.

Though the rate of infection has slowed in recent weeks, Nicola Sturgeon said pressure on the NHS "continues to be very severe".

The First Minister said that's why lockdown restrictions will remain in place for the time being.
