The Supreme Court appears likely to uphold a law that would ban the social media platform TikTok in the United States.

During oral arguments, the conservative-majority court did not appear convinced by the company's free speech arguments. But there is uncertainty over how the court will handle the case, especially with President-elect Donald Trump, who opposes the ban, taking office a day after the Jan. 19 deadline for it to take effect.
