Donald Trump and both of his former co-defendants in the Florida classified documents case launched an effort to block the release of a final report by special counsel Jack Smith that also addresses the election interference case against the president-elect. Both cases against Trump were dismissed after he won the election in November. Smith is required under Justice Department regulations to provide a confidential report to the attorney general, who can choose to make it public. Trump’s lawyers said they reviewed a two-volume draft copy of Smith’s report over the weekend. |
