Brew-Bacher rebuilds after fire

with Jennifer Wadsworth | Assistant metro editor

Welcome back. Here are the top headlines today.

Brew-Bacher's rebuilds

Nearly a year after a fire heavily damaged Brew-Bacher’s Grill on Government Street, the popular restaurant is about to start rebuilding. Timothy Boone has the story.

Judge remains on murder case

A retired judge rejected a defense request to remove a judge from a 2017 homicide case after a prosecutor accused the defense of trying to "muddy the record" to help their chances on appeal. A defense lawyer argued he is merely being a "zealous advocate" for his client, as Joe Gyan Jr. reports.

'This is a gift I am giving you'

A woman who had trouble conceiving found help from a stranger who — out of the kindness of her heart — volunteered to carry the baby. "This is a gift I am giving you," the surrogate told the woman. "I am blessing your family with it, and I would never keep a gift."

You don't want to miss this story by George Morris.
