Brewery 85 tests biodegradable packaging

A Greenville brewery is testing six-pack rings made from plant-based, biodegradable fibers. The rings are made from by-product waste and compostable material from the brewing process, a news release said, and if the rings end up in nature, the product is edible for wildlife.

State unemployment hits record low in November

South Carolina’s unemployment rate dropped to another record low of 2.4% in November, down from 2.6% in October, the S.C. Department of Workforce and Employment reports.

State asks for changes to federal hemp rules

The S.C. Department of Agriculture is asking the U.S. Department of Agriculture to make changes in its newly established hemp regulations, which require mandated testing of hemp fields by Drug Enforcement Administration-registered laboratories within 15 days of harvest. 

Alorica expanding in Charleston County

Customer relationship management company Alorica plans to expand its Charleston County operations with a $1.2 million investment, according to the S.C. Department of Commerce.
