The UK's decision to withdraw from the EU has roiled global markets and is expected to hit the US economy in various ways, including an increase in the value of the US dollar. Pentagon lifts civilian hiring freeze
The Defense Department has lifted its civilian hiring freeze after three months. The freeze was instituted to make sure positions weren't filled that would ultimately be cut as the Pentagon adjusts the size of its headquarters staff.

A new analysis examines the relationship between tech-industry jobs and poverty in 300 metropolitan areas between 2005 and 2011. The researchers found that "although the effects of tech do not seem to reach those in poverty and, particularly, in extreme poverty, they do affect the wages of those with the lowest level of education."

Chicago latest city to require paid sick leave
Chicago businesses will be required to let their employees earn up to five days of paid sick leave per 12-month period under an ordinance passed by the City Council on Wednesday. Chicago is the latest of more than two dozen US cities to require companies to offer paid sick leave.
