The following changes to the State Government's pandemic orders have come into effect: 

Third Dose COVID Vaccination Requirements for Key Workers 

Workers in the following key sectors must get their third dose vaccinations before being permitted to work onsite: 

  • Healthcare
  • Age Care
  • Disability Services
  • Emergency Services
  • Correctional Facilities
  • Quarantine Accommodation and 
  • Food Distribution

Workers eligible for a third dose on or before Wednesday 12 January will have until Saturday 12 February 2022 to get their third dose.

Indoor Dancefloors Closed

Indoor dancefloors within hospitality and entertainment venues must close.  Indoor dancefloors at weddings are permitted. 

Isolation Requirements for Workers in Key Sectors 

Exemptions from isolation requirements to attend work may be provided to workings in the following sectors, if agreed by the employee and employer, and deemed necessary for continuity of operations and other options have been exhausted:  

  • Manufacturing
  • Distribution/packaging of food and beverage
  • Supermarkets
  • Emergency services
  • Corrections
  • Critical utilities
  • Transport/freight
  • Education and
  • Critical care

Exempted workers must be asymptomatic, undertake rapid antigen tests for five days and return a negative result prior to attending work. They can’t enter shared break areas, and employers are asked to facilitate solo break time.

Work from Home, if you can

The strong recommendation from the State Government is to work from home if you can.

Employers and the self-employed are no longer required to notify WorkSafe if they become aware of a confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis attending the workplace.

Electric Vehicle Charging Grants for Business Fleets

This State Government grant program supports local businesses to provide the charging infrastructure required to operate Electric Vehicles (EV), reducing operating costs and emissions.

Solar For Business Program

This State Government grant program supports eligible local businesses to reduce energy costs by providing a rebate of up to $3500 towards the up-front costs of installing a Solar PV system up to 30Kw.

Energy Efficient Communities (EEC) Program - Food and Beverage Manufacturing

This Federal Government grant program provides local Food and Beverage Manufacturers up to $25,000 to upgrade energy efficiency practices and technologies to reduce energy consumption and power bills.

This State Government Grant Program provides wage subsidies up to $20,000 to eligible employers ready to hire new staff or increase hours of existing staff.

Make sure you’re adhering to the current COVID restrictions

  • All businesses must have an active, up-to-date COVIDSafe Plan.
  • Every customer-facing business must use the free Victorian Government QR Code Service â€¯to check in customers, workers and all other visitors. 
  • Download and display signage to remind people of the need to check in, and other safety measures.
