The Victorian Government's Commercial Tenancy Relief Scheme (the Scheme) aims to alleviate financial hardship faced by tenants and landlords as a result of coronavirus (COVID-19). The VSBC have leasing advice and scenarios for tenants and landlords in English, simplified Chinese, Arabic and Vietnamese:If you would like to discuss your commercial tenancy situation please email the Victorian Small Business Commission at enquiries@vsbc.vic.gov.au or call 13 8722.

A range of financial support is available from the Australian and Victorian governments to help your business through coronavirus (COVID-19). The Business Victoria Financial Support page will help you find programs and other support options available to you and your business.

Government assistance for sustainable business upgrades now available


A range of government grant programs are now open to assist businesses with funding energy efficiency projects. 


The Australian Government has announced the opening of its Energy Efficient Communities Program (EECP). Small businesses are eligible for grants up to $20,000 with no co-contribution required for equipment upgrades that reduce energy consumption (excluding solar PV generator systems and batteries), monitoring systems to better manage energy use, energy audits and energy efficiency feasibility studies.


Applications for the small business round closes on 26 August 2020.

High energy businesses are eligible to apply for grants up to $25,000 with matching co-contribution.  Applications close on the 24 September 2020. More information is available at business.gov.au.


Energy Advice for small businesses


The Australian Government Business Energy Advice Program (BEAP) offers small businesses with between 6 to 20 employees two free Business Energy Advice consultation sessions. Register for a by calling 1300 415 224 or visiting businessenergyadvice.com.au.


If your business has more or fewer employees, you can still access information on reducing your energy use at energy.gov.au for small businesses.   


Paying too much for energy?


The Small Business Energy Check tool is available at checkyourenergyspend.com.au. It's tailored for small businesses with up to 20 staff, operating anywhere in Australia. You can use it as many times as you like, no registration is required.

Brimbank City Council and Melton City Council have launched a joint advocacy campaign opposing contaminated soil from the Westgate Tunnel project being dumped at Melbourne Regional Landfill in Ravenhall.
 

Anyone who is concerned about this proposal is encouraged to visit https://stopthesoil.com.au/petition/tellgovernment/ and tell the Victorian Government and Transurban that you do not want contaminated soil dumped in Ravenhall.

The Brimbank COVID-19 Response and Recovery Strategy includes the development of a business website under the Economic Development Response (Business Support and Assistance).

Business Mentoring 

Council's partnership with the Small Business Mentoring Service (SBMS) and ION Group provides businesses with vouchers to access to mentoring sessions. Sessions are provided either online via Skype/Zoom or by telephone.


SBMS mentoring sessions are designed to provide operational support and identify resources for businesses in these extreme times.  There are different mentoring options available, and they can be provided in languages other than English.

ION Group provides a strategic ‘whole of business’ approach to their mentoring sessions an opportunity to review your situation, undertake planning and business strategy, and prepare adaptation strategies for re-opening, reinventing and rebuilding your business.
