Food Standards Australia and New Zealand have introduced new Plain English Allergen Labelling (PEAL) regulations to the Food Standards Code.

Allergen declarations must be made in bold font in the statement of ingredients list (e.g. milk powder, egg yolk, flavour (wheat maltodextrin, sesame oil). An allergen summary statement, in bold font starting with the word âcontainsâ must be included underneath or alongside the ingredient list.
