After logging nearly wiped out the species a century ago, longstanding efforts to bring them back are beginning to take root. | As respiratory viruses spike, health care systems ask Minnesotans to reduce the strain on providers. “Please have mercy on us,” said Dr. Ashley Strobel, emergency physician at Hennepin Healthcare. “We are working very hard and doing our absolute best. We are parents just like you. We are Minnesotans just like you and we want to take care of you.” Soccer fans gather in the cold to cheer on U.S. men's team in World Cup. In a match between two teams hoping to make the most of their historic appearance at the FIFA World Cup Monday, the U.S. men’s team and Wales played to a 1-1 draw. Fans gathered around screens in many places around Minnesota, including at Allianz Field in St. Paul, home to Minnesota's professional soccer club the Loons. Largest rail union rejects contract, stoking fears of a strike. Four freight rail unions, with a combined membership of close to 60,000 rail workers, have voted down the five-year contract agreement brokered by the Biden administration back in September. The latest rejection came Monday from the largest of the unions, representing some 28,000 conductors, brakemen, and yardmen. Listen: How to avoid long lines, high prices during Thanksgiving travel. The Twin Cities airport is a busy place this week.
