The first doses of the University of Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID-19 #vaccine arrived today at Tan Son Nhat airport in Ho Chi Minh City, bringing renewed hope in Vietnam’s fight against the pandemic.

As the first COVID-19 vaccine to arrive in the country, the batch of 117,600 doses was welcomed on the runway by Dr. Truong Quoc Cuong – Vice Minister of Health, our British Consul General in HCMC Emily Hamblin together with leaders of departments and institutes of the Ministry of Health (MOH), senior representatives of AstraZeneca Vietnam Co., Ltd. and Vietnam Vaccine JSC (VNVC).

Speaking about this milestone, British Ambassador to Vietnam Gareth Ward said: “University of Oxford & AstraZeneca's COVID-19 vaccine is a great example of British scientific innovation which is already having a positive effect in the UK. I am pleased it is now available in Vietnam to launch the vaccination programme here. Science and co-operation will help us defeat the pandemic.”
