| California facing chance of blackouts amid brutal heat wave |

| CAISO is struggling to keep the lights on today as an intense heat wave hits California. The grid operator has issued seven “flex alerts” in the past seven days. The alerts call for voluntary energy conservation from consumers and businesses between 4-10PM, when the solar PV on rooftops across the state begins to roll off as the sun goes down. To add insult to injury, the risk of wildfires in such extreme heat is also elevated. Four people died and thousands were evacuated over the long weekend as a result of large fires. |
