| Dial in your wedge control Joey Wuertemberger, Golf Digest Certified Teacher The Crown Golf at Texas Rangers Golf Course, Arlington, TX | This simple drill will help you increase your wedge control and improve your feel from 75 yards and in. First, place two alignment rods each side of the target line about six feet in front of you. Then, attach a string across the top of the rods to establish your 'launch window'. Next, grab a pitching wedge or gap wedge and start hitting short, half-swing shots. Focus on the trajectory, your goal is to start your shots in the launch window, or under the string. Achieving this will help you hit flighted wedges on command and dial in your spin. Once you have the hang of it, hit longer shots with the same clubs. Then, when you have that down, grab your sand wedge and do the same thing. While you complete this drill, you should also be getting to know your distances. A great way to do that is to place targets out on the range that provide a visual for different yardages. If you can spend an extra 30 minutes a week on your wedges inside of 75 yards, you’ll find that it will dramatically drop your scores! | |
