Top Stories for September 15, 2020 🔥 Binance has been sued by Fisco, a Japanese crypto exchange, for the alleged laundering of $9 million in stolen Bitcoin. The Bitcoin was part of a heist totaling $63 million worth of cryptocurrency in 2018, from an exchange called Zaif. Fisco claim that Binance's anti-money laundering processes are too relaxed, and that the exchange enabled the hackers to launder stolen funds, despite their wallets being made known to Binance. The amount of Bitcoin which has been tokenized for use in decentralized finance (DeFi) has now reached $1 billion, just shy of 100,000 BTC. The figure makes up more than 12% of the entire DeFi ecosystem's total locked value - the value of coins which are tied up in DeFi smart contracts. The New York Attorney General’s office (NYAG) is seeking to speed up their court case with stablecoin company Tether, who have taken more than 17 months to produce financial documents. The NYAG is requesting that all documents from Tether must be submitted within 60 days, while extending Tether's injunction (preventing them from sending further funds to Bitfinex). |
