The Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) has extended the commenting period on its new proposed crypto wallet rule.
The rulemaking period will be extended for an extra 15 days, as well as another 45 days for requirements on record-keeping and counterparty reporting.
The proposed rule was highly controversial among the community, in part due to the speed with which it was being pushed through the process.
Several customers of popular hardware wallet manufacturer Ledger have reported receiving violent threats via email, following the leak of more than 20,000 customers' personal details.
