It has been reported that US President Joe Biden will be signing an executive order on crypto this week, which will push greater regulation.
According to Reuters, the order is likely to be signed tomorrow. It is expected to contain directions for multiple federal agencies in their regulation and policy on the crypto market – more or less in line with those of "US allies".
The Justice Department will also be looking at whether a new law is required for the creation of new currencies.
WalletConnect, a popular Ethereum wallet connection product, has raised $11 million in Series A funding for creating a messaging layer to its product.
The funding round was led by Union Square Ventures and 1kx, to enable WalletConnect to work on inter-wallet messaging and scale wallet interoperability. WalletConnect co-founder Pedro Gomes says that communication between users is a large missing piece of Web 3.
Crypto exchange giant Binance has received warning from UK regulators, following the formation of a partnership with the Nasdaq-listed Eqonex.
The partnership gives Binance's Bifinity subsidiary rights to appoint multiple new Eqonex executives and board seats, in return for a $36 million convertible loan. The deal essentially gives Binance control of the FCA-registered Eqonex firm.
