Erik Thedéen of the European Securities and Markets Authority has called for European regulators to ban proof-of-work (PoW) cryptocurrency mining, claiming it may impact climate change goals.
Thedéen, who is the vice-chair of the organization, has advocated for proof-of-stake as a more energy efficient alternative. There has been plenty of pushback on the notion, including from Paris-based Melanion Capital who labelled the sentiment "completely misinformed".
The recent Crypto.com security breach has been revealed to be a hack, which resulted in the loss of up to $33 million, according to on-chain analyst ErgoBTC.
Around $15 million of ETH was taken in the hack, with the possibility of several million more compromised in BTC. Crypto.com paused withdrawals earlier this week due to suspicious activity on its platform.
Osmosis, a leading cross-chain decentralized exchange based on Cosmos, is officially launching its Gravity Bridge – a new bridge that will enable the trading of assets based on Ethereum.
The implementation will enable easier trading between the Ethereum and Cosmos blockchains, as well as allow for MetaMask signatures for a better user experience.
