Tesla has put a total of $1.5 billion into Bitcoin under a new investment policy, according to an annual report filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The disclosure follows a long history of Tesla's founder and CEO Elon Musk commenting on the digital currency, as well as recently putting the #Bitcoin hashtag in his Twitter bio.
Tesla has also claimed that it expects to accept Bitcoin in the near future as a means of payment for products, initially on a "limited basis".
Crypto fund manager Bitwise has filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission to launch an exchange-traded fund (ETF) for cryptocurrency innovators.
The ETF would track the Bitwise Crypto Innovators Index, which is proposed to be made up of companies with a large stake in cryptocurrency.
Cryptocurrency tracker and trading app Blockfolio has been hacked to display offensive content, however the company says all user funds are safe.
The hack was made on the news and signal feeds of the app, but did not affect any other services including trading. Blockfolio will undergo a wider security review over the next month.
