👉 Bitcoin Surpasses PayPal For Value Transferred Per Quarter

The Bitcoin network has surpassed PayPal in value transferred per quarter, with projections estimating it may surpass Mastercard by 2026.

Around $489 billion has been processed per quarter by the Bitcoin network in 2021, whereas PayPal has processed about $302 billion per quarter, according to market intelligence firm Blockdata.

Mastercard currently processes around $1.8 trillion per quarter, while Visa is sitting at $3.2 trillion per quarter.

👉 Japanese Companies To Test Yen-Based Cryptocurrency In 2022

A consortium of around 70 Japanese companies has been assembled to test a yen-based cryptocurrency in 2022, backed by three of the country's biggest banks.

The project, dubbed "DCJPY", has been in development by the Mitsubishi UFJ, Mizuho  and Sumitomo Mitsui financial groups, and is separate from the Bank of Japan's digital yen project.

👉 Chinese Crypto Censorship Reaches Media Outlets And Mining Pools

China's censorship over cryptocurrency has reached crypto media outlets and mining pools, as major crypto news brand Chainnews shuts down all channels.

Domestic IP addresses have also been blocked from connecting to major mining pools, according to a document from China Telecom.
