Bitcoin has corrected almost 3%, after a small fake-out towards the $8,800 mark today.

The majority of top-20 altcoins are also down slightly, with Ethereum down 3% despite being officially recognized as a commodity by the CFTC. Ripple is down 1%, while Bitcoin Cash is down 2%.

👉 CFTC Confirms Ether is a Commodity

CFTC chairman Heath Tarbert has publicly announced that Ethereum is a commodity, at Yahoo Finance's All Markets Summit.

The CFTC had previously mentioned cryptocurrencies, however this is the first time they have specifically addressed Ether as a commodity.

👉 Alipay Publicly Refutes Being a Binance Fiat On-Ramp

Alipay has publicly denied endorsement or permission for its users to purchase cryptocurrency from any service, including Binance.

Binance had recently announced two new fiat on-ramps for purchasing crypto, addressing WeChat and Alipay by name.

👉 Bakkt Trading Volume Spikes to 212 Contracts in a Day

Bakkt announced new 24-hour trading volume highs via Twitter today, boasting a total of 212 contracts changing hands.

The statistic should ease some of the skepticism surrounding the seemingly-insignificant value traded on the platform since its recent launch.
