Top Stories for March 3, 2020 🔥 Tron has colluded with major cryptocurrency exchanges, staking large amounts of user funds in a hostile takeover of the Steem network. Binance, Huobi, and Poloniex all took part in the takeover, in an act that voted out the established Steem witnesses (block validators), and unlock pre-mined Steem coins. These coins were previously frozen by the former witnesses, to prevent them being used by Tron after acquiring the Steemit platform. Binance has since pledged to remove their votes, after backlash from the community. The Republic of the Marshall Islands is launching its own national digital currency, the Marshallese Sovereign - which will be based on the Algorand blockchain. The project will be regulated by the Marshall Islands government, however the supply increase will be fixed at a rate of 4% annually. Two Chinese nationals have been charged by the US for laundering cryptocurrency which was stolen by North Korean hackers, worth over $100 million. The laundering took place between 2017 and 2019, where the two men transferred the funds to several addresses and used fake identification to evade authorities. |
