We are now accepting nominations for LAVCA's annual list of Top Women Investors and Emerging Women Investors in Latin American Tech.

Nominations are for senior-, mid- and junior-level female investment professionals deploying capital from a VC fund, and women angel investors investing in 3+ LatAm tech startups a year.

Nominations close Friday, 24 November.

BTG Pactual | Gran Cursos Online

In June 2021, BTG Pactual invested in Gran Cursos, a Brazil-based education platform offering courses for the public civil examination exams, undergraduate classes, coding and other verticals. 

Since BTG Pactual’s investment, Gran Cursos increased their student base from 290k to more than 700k by 2023, with 27.2% of all new civil service positions occupied by Gran students in 2022, reflecting the highest share on the market. The alumni base consists of 59% of women, 57% of underrepresented communities and 41% of students with income lower than one minimum Brazilian wage. Nearly 57% of students are from cities with limited availability of in-person classes.

◼︎ Ares Management invested USD100m in Vinci Partners through a convertible shares issuance. Ares and Vinci will collaborate in crossborder fundraising and co-branded product opportunities in Brazil and the rest of Latin America as part of the initiative. #PE

◼︎ XP Asset Management raised BRL402m (~USD79.8m) towards its BRL800m (~USD159m) target for Sports Media Futebol Brasileiro, a FIP to invest in the media rights of 26 sports clubs in Brazil. #PE

◼︎ Bain Capital made a BRL100m (~USD19.9m) follow-on investment in Bionexo, a Brazil-based medical supply marketplace. Bain Capital previously invested BRL340m (~USD68m) in October 2021. #PE

◼︎ Endeavor Brasil reached a USD15m final close for Scale-Up Ventures II, its second flagship fund with an original USD12m target to invest in seed and Series A financing rounds of Brazilian startups within the Endeavor network. #VC

◼︎ IDB Invest made a USD10m commitment to PCF III, Portland Private Equity’s third flagship fund with a USD100m target to invest in medium-sized companies in the Caribbean. #PE

◼︎ Ore Investments acquired a controlling stake in Morro Verde, a Brazil-based phosphate fertilizer producer. #RealAssets

◼︎ Mubadala Capitalacquired a 10% stake in Atvos (formerly Odebrecht Agroindustrial), a Brazil-based ethanol and cane-based fuel producer, from petrochemical conglomerate Grupo Novonor. #PE

◼︎ Yellowstone Capital Partners acquired land in Ciudad del Rio, a neighborhood in Medellín, Colombia, where more than 2,600 sustainable homes will be built. #RealAssets

◼︎ TC Latin Americalaunched Fondo de Inversión Cerrado de Desarrollo TC RD I, its first fund in the Dominican Republic to invest in industrial and healthcare-focused real estate opportunities. #RealAssets
