What has sustained you through this challenging year? And what will you sustain in 2021 and beyond?
The pandemic has proven that a resilient, connected, and community-centered food system is essential to sustaining us through good times and bad. When industrial food chains were breaking down, wasting food, and endangering workers, our farmers market community was the opposite—it was the model of a system that puts the health of the community at the center. The farmers market was here for you, and you were here for our farmers.
Over the last month, you’ve heard from some of our local farmers and food heroes about what has been essential to sustaining them through this difficult year. For Poli Yerena of Yerena Farms, protecting farmers and farmworkersis essential. For the Bakers of Lonely Mountain Farm, stewarding the landis essential. For Rudy Jimenez of Green Thumb Organics, feeding our communityis essential. For Dede Boies of Root Down Farm, caring for each otheris essential.
This year has proven that we have the power, right here, to feed and care for each other, and you have a very important part to play. Will you support your local food community today?Any amount, even $10, will make a difference. As we gather our strength for 2021, know that your support is essential in sustaining this community, and building a healthy food future for all. Thank you!
