Building a culture of prevention in transport and logistics

Around half of work-related ill health is down to stress, depression or anxiety with each person suffering taking an average of 19.6 days off work a year

To mark World Mental Health Day earlier this month, Mates in Mind managing director, Sam Downie, shared a blog on how to build a culture of prevention.

The law requires all employers to prevent work related stress to support good mental health in the workplace by doing a risk assessment and acting on it.

Failing to manage stress at work can cost employers in reduced productivity, sickness absence, or even losing a valued member of the team.

HSE's Working Minds campaign can help, find out how to support your workers to thrive:

MSD Risk-reduction through design awards

Help other businesses to consider how they too can prevent ill-health by nominating your design change for the awards

The most recent statistics show that approximately 6.6 million working days are lost in Great Britain due to work-related musculoskeletal disorders.

We are looking to award businesses that have made simple changes to their workplace, tasks or activities that have resulted in reduced musculoskeletal risk to their employees.

These changes could include reducing lifting, pushing or pulling activities, reducing awkward postures while using equipment or removing the need for manual handling altogether.

Any UK employer can enter and there is an additional award category for small and medium size businesses (up to 250 employees).

Further details on how to enter and case studies of previous winners are available on our website.
