I don't know about you, but I've been seeing a lot more substantive activity on LinkedIn lately, and a lot more people engaged on LinkedIn. But not everyone knows how to build that engagement or to gain visibility and traction on the platform.

How do you build engagement on LinkedIn?

The best way to build engagement on LinkedIn is by making LinkedIn a conversation; by interacting with other people, and encouraging them to interact with you so that you get to know one another better.

The more you engage with other people, the more they will get to know, like, and trust you – and the more they will be willing to turn to you as a reliable source of information, to work with you, or to refer business to you.

There are all kinds of ways to do that – on your own LinkedIn real estate or on other people’s LinkedIn real estate.

Upcoming Speaking Engagements

I'm excited to announce two upcoming events that I will be speaking at.

The first is the New York State Bar Association Solo and Small Firm Conference, on October 5, 2023. This is a full day conference starting at 9 a.m. and offering topics ranging from technology to wellness to cybersecurity and alternative fees. My session is entitled, "Too Many Hats: Time Management."

This conference always packs a lot of value. You can register for the conference here.

The second is the annual ABA TECHSHOW, held in Chicago February 14-17, 2024. TECHSHOW is one of the premier legal technology conferences, and I'm thrilled to have been asked to speak again. My topics this year are Do's and Don'ts of LinkedIn and Google Business Profiles. The second will be a hands-on workshop.

I'll post more details as I get them, but for now registration is open, and I look forward to seeing you there!

Second Edition with new tips

The Second Edition of How to Do More in Less Time: The Complete Guide to Increasing Your Productivity and Improving Your Bottom Line, which I co-authored with Daniel J. Siegel, is now available from the American Bar Association. When we started writing the new edition, we thought it would be an easy task, but we found that even though the concepts in the book are evergreen, there was a lot of updating that we needed to do to be in line with the way lawyers practice today. And we added material on videoconferencing, working from home and more.

If you pick up a copy, I'd love to hear what you think about it.

Make LinkedIn Work for You

My friend and colleague, Dennis Kennedy and I are proud to announce that our book, Make LinkedIn Work for You, A Practical Handbook for Lawyers and Other Legal Professionals is now available. The book is an adaptation of all of our previous work on LinkedIn, from webinars and presentations to articles and books. This book is different from what we've done before in that we published direct to Kindle first, and the book contains no screenshots.
