Ship finance takes centre stage at Europort 2021

At a time when environmental challenges are topping the maritime agenda, Europort 2021 will shine a light on green ship finance and offer a new amenity to help shipowners secure access to experts in the field. For instance, Europort is proud to host the 20th Mare Forum Ship Finance conference, in which major players in the maritime and finance industries like Pieter Baan (ING) and Joep Gorgels (ABN AMRO) will share their thoughts on the most pressing issues in the business of shipping.

YoungShip speaks up for young maritime professionals during Europort

New voices must be heard on Diversity, Digitalisation and Sustainability if shipping is to scoop the cream from the talent pool, according to YoungShip.

In common with other industries, Covid-19 has led candidates for shipping jobs to reflect on whether the maritime career lives up to expectations, according to Nicholas Serritslev, who chairs the Rotterdam chapter of YoungShip.

During Europort YoungShip Rotterdam will host the YoungShip Shipathon pitches where young professionals will compete with eachother.

Europort Masterclasses on maritime innovations

Just like previous editions Europort and Netherlands Maritime Technology teamed up to organize insightful masterclasses about lightweight ships/new materials in shipbuilding, digital growth hacking and greenifying the North-Sea.

In three, one hour, sessions you can get up to speed about important industry actualities. Drop by at the Innovation Stage to learn more about topics such as the rising costs, of raw materials, the RAMSSES-project, smart shipping, autonomous shipping, the SMASH! and the energy transition.

Autonomous tug completes voyage successfully

Europort exhibitor Sea Machines Robotics is currently making waves in the autonomous vessel market. Last month the company announced it would be sending a remotely controlled, autonomous tugboat around Denmark at the end of September.

The Nellie Bly left Hamburg on 30 September on a 1,000 nautical mile trip to trial the autonomous technology over a longer route. Along the way the tugboat called at multiple ports to show and demonstrate the technology. The vessel completed the round trip on Friday 15 October, over which it carried out a total of 342 collision avoidance manoeuvres.
