Warning letters are on the way to hundreds of drivers after being caught on camera using Preston’s latest bus-only stretch of road on its first day in operation.

Cameras were switched on yesterday to monitor the new restriction on Corporation Street, between its junctions with Marsh Lane and Heatley Street.

Only buses, bicycles and Hackney taxis – not private hire vehicles – are allowed to pass through the so-called ‘bus gate’, which will be in operation 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

But despite the 'bus gate' going live, the Lancashire Post spotted at least 80 drivers in just one hour break the rules on the first morning.

Here's what the new road layout looks like.

If you ever drive into Preston City Centre you need to familiarise yourself with the new rules or risk a £70 fine which increases to £105.

Here's everything you need to know about the new rules.

Make sure you share the information with your family and friends too!

Let me know what you think of the new 'bus gate' at vanessa.sims@lep.co.uk

Kind regards
