Australia Next editions launch in three markets
The latest editions of Business Events Australia’s incentive inspiration magazine Australia Next have dropped in key business events markets New Zealand and the United States of America, as well as South and South East Asia with the launch of its inaugural edition. While Australia’s borders are closed and many markets are in some form of restricted movement, the magazine is positioned to keep the dream of Australia alive, build desire for Australian incentives and give planners something to look forward to once travel is possible again.

Greater China Showcase survey results paint positive picture for future business
Buyers from the Greater China Showcase held earlier this month have indicated 100 per cent satisfaction with the event, with 97 per cent of delegates saying they are more likely to send groups to Australia as a result of attending the event. Although Australia’s restrictions on international travel remain a barrier to booking, 80 per cent of buyers are currently considering Australia for a future incentive. However, it’s set to be a longer-term return – 67 to 69 per cent of buyers are expecting Australian incentives to resume in December 2021 or later.
Keeping Australia front of mind in international markets
Keeping Australia front of mind in international markets
Business Events Australia’s international media buy continues to keep Australia top of mind for international planners and decision-makers while travel is paused. In the last fortnight, we’ve highlighted Australia’s strengths in food and agribusiness through a story about a South Australian research initiative to turn agricultural waste in multi-million dollar industries and a follow-up piece highlighting the latest developments in the sector; we’ve caught US incentive planners up on the latest news from Australia, put a spotlight on what’s new and coming soon for incentive product in Perth and offered planners in New Zealand some bite-size inspiration for outdoor venues in Australia which make the most of our landscapes, city skylines and riverways.
International market insights
International market insights
Alongside formal external research projects, to inform the Business Events Australia (BEA) international marketing strategy and to help Australian industry market their businesses effectively to international clients, the BEA team continually collects anecdotal insights from customers and via live and virtual events and local trade media. According to stakeholders in each market, the latest market sentiment for Australia remains positive although border closures have been flagged as a barrier to immediate planning by customers. Across markets, feedback from planners suggests, at this stage, that there is an expectation that international events will resume in late 2021 or in 2022. For incentives, group sizes are likely to be smaller while association stakeholders have indicated their events look likely to remain hybrid for at least the next 12 to 18 months. Contact the Business Events Australia team for more information, including detailed anecdotal insights from each target market.

AACB’s Forward Calendar
The latest Forward Calendar from the Association of Australian Convention Bureaux (AACB) highlights the immediate impact of the global coronavirus pandemic on the pipeline of international business events secured for Australia. While 373 confirmed wins represents a strong calendar of international business events for Australia’s future, 35 per cent have been postponed into 2021 and beyond, artificially inflating the future pipeline for the country. For more details, download the Forward Calendar on AACB’s website.
